Spending Cutback in July

The General Assembly probably will not have an approved budget for 2009-10 before July 1, 2009. The current version of the Continuing Resolution states that we would only receive 85% of the expected funds in July. Until we have an approved budget, we plan to implement the following procedures:

  1. Purchase orders will be reviewed for expected delivery date and necessity for the opening of school before processing.
  2. PCard limits will be reduced to $2,500 per day and the monthly total to $15,000 (from the current levels of $5,000 and $25,000).
  3. Most OTP (Other than Personnel) invoices will not be paid until we are certain that we will have enough money to meet payroll.

We would encourage you to make prudent purchasing decisions and delay purchases as much as possible until we know our final budget for 2009-10. Once the 2009-10 budget is known, we will make adjustments in departmental budgets so that normal purchasing decisions can be made.
